Bill Walton was honored at the Rady Children’s Invitational in a free-spirited way that seemed most appropriate for the local legend. Jared Emerson, a speed artist from Greenville, S.C., came out to midcourt during halftime of the Purdue-North Carolina State game and finger-painted a 4-foot-by-5-foot picture of Walton.

Bill Walton, an NBA Hall of Famer who was also a legendary college basketball announcer, died at the age of 71 in May, making this year's Maui Invitational men's basketball tournament the first one without Walton in attendance.

The late Bill Walton received a nice tribute from those running the Maui Invitational. Walton died in May at the age of 71 following a battle with cancer.
