It’s one small step for man, one potential giant leap for Martiankind. Scientists have identified a region on Mars that could support living organisms, potentially bringing us a step closer to discovering life there.

By analyzing data from various Mars missions, the team has identified a subsurface zone, between 4.3 and 8.8 kilometres deep, where conditions could support microbial activity.

Researchers have identified an 1,800-mile-wide plain in the northern hemisphere of Mars that may currently host alien life. Microbial life could, in theory, lurk beneath the plain's surface.
