PALM BEACH GARDENS, Florida — A violent altercation at a public golf course this week in Palm Beach Gardens left one man dead and another facing a first-degree murder charge.

Investigators say the man in custody hit Brian Hiltebeitel with a golf club and then choked him as they fought in a pond at Sandhill Crane Golf Club.

A Florida man is accused of beating another man to death with golf clubs on a course in Palm Beach County. A probable cause affidavit filed by the Palm Beach Gardens Police Department obtained by PEOPLE alleges that Junior Boucher, 36, was seen by a witness chasing Brian Hiltebeitel, 65, with a club on the first hole at Sandhill Crane Golf Club.
