While they clinched a spot in the ACC championship game with a win over Virginia last week, the Mustangs still have College Football Playoff aspirations. Finishing undefeated in the ACC may be necessary to secure an at-large bid if they can’t win the conference.

In its first year in the conference, SMU is the only team undefeated in ACC play and will play for the conference championship.

Dabo Swinney and Clemson probably need to beat South Carolina to make the College Football Playoff. But a loss by Miami, Notre Dame, or Tennessee could help.
