Thirteen years ago, future Hall of Fame kicker Justin Tucker nailed a 40-yard field goal that sent Texas to an emotional 27-25 victory over Texas A&M. The next year, the Aggies joined the SEC and the game went dark.

BRYAN, Texas (KBTX) - For the first time in 13 years, the Lone Star Showdown is back. Texas A&M and University of Texas at Austin will go head-to-head at Kyle Field this Saturday. In grandeur, KBTX has put together an hour-long “Rivalry Renewed” special.

Texas A&M and the Texas Longhorns renew their rivalry in Week 14 with the Aggies season on the line. A&M is well-aware of what is at stake and ready.

The feud between the teams started in 1894 then ran uninterrupted from World War I until a memorable 2011 game and a bitter realignment-driven split.

In 1994, Texas and Texas A&M struck a deal to change conferences, but not to the Pac-10 or SEC. They, along with Baylor and Texas Tech, left the SWC to join the Big 8 schools and form the Big 12. The SWC became defunct in 1996.
