Cleveland claimed defensive end James Houston off waivers, one of two waiver claims it made on Wednesday. The Browns also claimed defensive end Cameron Thomas from the Kansas City Chiefs. The Browns, in a corresponding move, waived defensive end Elerson Smith. Smith had appeared in the last two games for Cleveland (3-8).
