A new wildfire was reported today at 5:05 p.m. in Riverside County. The wildfire has been burning on private land. There is no update on the containment progress of the fire and its cause has yet to be determined.

More than 200 firefighters battled the blaze and by Friday afternoon had managed to contain 15% of it, officials said. Containment refers to what portion of a wildfire's perimeter has been surrounded by a natural or human-made control line.

Fire authorities have issued evacuation warnings as an 85-acre wildfire burns near Canyon Crest Drive in Riverside County. The Canyon Crest fire was first reportedThursday evening and its cause remains under investigation, according to the California Department of Forestry & Fire Protection.
