Winter storm warnings have been issued for nearly half of Michigan as arctic air pushes its way across the state. Here’s what to know about the snow totals and snow squalls expected across the state.

A storm packing a wintry mix of snow and rain is expected to move into Massachusetts on Wednesday night and cause slick travel conditions for Thursday morning. Depending on where you live in the Bay State, you might need a snow brush, snow shovel, or nothing at all.

Winter weather advisories have been issued by the National Weather Service from 7 p.m. Thursday through noon on Thursday for parts of Massachusetts, New Hampshire, Maine and Vermont, with more than 8 inches of snow expected in some parts of New England.

A change in snow fortunes came fast and furious. A number of locations went from a foot or more below average to several feet above average in a matter of days.

Snow continues to hit the Great Lakes after more than five feet fell over the holiday weekend. A short-lived break is coming before several inches of more snow and a blast of bone-chilling air arrives.

A second system is coming into the Great Lakes region, adding to the concerns of 5 million people already impacted by winter weather alerts. NBC News meteorologist Michelle Grossman has the details on Early Today.
