The National Weather Service in St. Louis expects less than an inch of snow, but it could stick to cold roads and untreated surfaces.

The St. Louis region's first fall snow is in the books. Snowfall was steady for much of Saturday, and some parts of the region saw several inches of snow.

While only a dusting to an inch of snow is expected for some, the timing during the Monday morning commute could cause some problems.

Drivers are urged to be cautious as snow winds down in the St. Louis region with a strong possibility of wet and icy roadways likely through Sunday.

The season’s first snow caused a flurry of traffic crashes across the St. Louis area. Police, firefighters and medical services responded to multiple crashes after snow started falling Saturday morning.

Roads, especially bridges and overpasses, will likely become slick and hazardous, the National Weather Service says, as 2-4 inches of snow is forecast.
