This year’s World Chess Championship is expected to draw an audience of 200 million viewers across more than 80 countries, with an estimated 40 million viewing hours.

All eyes will be on D Gukesh as he will take on defending champion Ding Liren in Game 4 of the World Chess Championship in Singapore on Friday, November 29. Gukesh won Game 3 to level the series.

Clearly, chess isn't really a sport for the masses, particularly not in Singapore, just yet. But it is still a significant event. It is the first time in 45 years that the world championship has come to south-east Asia,

Gukesh managed to win the third game, but he will need to be at his best going forward. Any mistake could significantly harm his chances of becoming only the 2nd Indian to win.

Ding Liren appeared emotionally and physically exhausted after winning the Chess World Championship last year. He sees himself as an underdog defending the title at the upcoming tournament.

The 18-year-old triumphed in the third game of the series on Wednesday, drawing level after his opening-round loss.

With 40 moves to make in the first 120 allotted minutes without any increment, the complicated middle game had the desired impact on Liren and Gukesh was relentless in finding out some difficult yet perfect moves to increase the pressure.
