People travelling between the UK and Africa have been given a stark warning by Travel Health Pro to be careful after cases of deadly diseases Marburg, Mpox and Oropuche continue to rise

Health officials have issued a global alert as Marburg, Mpox, and Oropouche viruses spread across 17 countries. The Marburg virus, dubbed the “bleeding eyes” virus, has killed 15 people in Rwanda, with hundreds more infected. Known for its 50% fatality rate, Marburg could spread further in Africa, complicating ongoing outbreaks.

Officials are spooked by rising cases over a horror ‘eye bleeding' disease that has spread to more than 17 countries.

Travel Health Pro warned that while Marburg ‘is rare and very unusual in travellers, sporadic cases have been reported in travellers who spent prolonged periods in mines or caves inhabited by bat colonies’.

A new outrage has been outburst in parts of Africa and now reportedly spreading its legs. On September 27, the Rwanda Ministry of Health announced the confirmation of Marburg virus disease (MVD). The cases are reported from seven of the 30 districts in the country.
