AEW star Ricky Starks has been absent from TV appearances for months, sparking speculation among fans about his potential departure from the promotion. He appeared on AEW television since March 2024.

Matt Cardona has a new opponent for GCW’s “Highest In The Room 3” event. Ricky Starks made an appearance at GCW Dream On last weekend, and a match against Matt Cardona was announced a short time later.

Currently, Starks is still signed to an AEW contract, and outside of GCW, none of his other appearances have been publicly cancelled, such as his involvement with HOG's Watch the Throne event in Chicago next January.

Ricky Starks has been pulled from his upcoming GCW appearances, and a new report provides more information. AEW’s Ricky Starks appeared at GCW Dream On3. He was then announced for their December 14, as he was set to face Matt Cardona.

"Absolute" Ricky Starks may be off GCW events, but AEW has seemingly greenlit him to face a current TNA star for House of Glory.

Per Fightful Select, AEW made the decision on 26 November to pull Starks from any further appearances for GCW. Ricky was due to wrestle for GCW on 12 December, 28 December, and 19 January, with GCW taking to X to confirm the Stroke Daddy will no longer be appearing for the company.

GCW’s Brett Lauderdale isn’t sure where AEW stands right now. Ricky Starks appeared at GCW’s Dream On event over the weekend. It was later announced that he would have a match with Matt Cardona at a future event.
