Under tight security, a three-member judicial inquiry commission headed by a retired high court judge visited Sambhal and inspected the area where violence occurred over the survey of the Mughal-era Shahi Jama Masjid.

The judicial commission appointed to probe the violence that erupted in Sambhal on November 24 visited the town on Sunday and began their probe. The district administration heightened security in the violence-hit area in view of the commission’s visit.

Police were deployed at Samajwadi Party leader Mata Prasad Pandey's residence on Saturday to prevent a 15-member delegation from visiting violence-hit Sambhal district in Uttar Pradesh. Sambhal district administration has prohibited entry of outsiders till December 10.
